Although Nepal is a landlocked country, it is second richest country in water resources among the whole world.some of them are the rushing torrents, tranquil lakes, splashing rivers, unique springs and underground water resources.Among them, the rivers play the most important role in Nepal. Most of them rise from big lakes or mountains. They flow through mountains, rocks and plains.
The major rivers in nepal are Mechi, Koshi, Bagmati, Narayani, gandaki, karnali, mahakali and others. The koshi in the eastern part of nepal is the largest, the narayani is the deepest and the karnali is the longest rivers in Nepal . The amount of the water in all the rivers during dry seasons slightly decreases but in the rainy season, it gets increased.each big river has several tributaries.
Each river in Nepal plays a vital role in the development of the country. We have produced hydro-electricity in many places using the water of the rivers. Similarly, they are very important  to irrigate our farms. The water of them can be used for cooking, drinking and washing. They are also useful for transportation  and entertainment.Nowadays, many people enjoy rafting in our rivers.they are also the regional boundaries for political and administration purposes.
Especially the rivers which flow through or near the cities are getting polluted.they  must be preserved. Nowadays, the Bagmati and the Bishnumati. In kathmandu have been extremely polluted. They are no more rivers now; rather they seem to be drainages. We can preserve such rivers by making drains along the banks of them. We should not throw any garbages and dirts on their banks. It can be said that rivers in Nepal are the fortune of the country and countrymen.

The Forest in Nepal

We can get many advantages from the jungle. We can preserve wild animals in the jungle. Forest provide firewood, timber, herbs, grass etc. It helps us to purify the atmosphere and to reduce the gravity of air pollution. Underground water resources can be saved in the forest. It also helps us to balance eco-system. The problems of droughts, weather extremes, landslides etc  can be alleviated by the help of the forest. Similarly, the forest of our country attracts many tourists. We can earn foreign currency from them. The natural beauty cannot be preserved without the preservation of forest.
Nowadays forest is being destroyed. People clear the forest for vaious purposes. One of the most important causes of its destruction is rapid population growth. The growing population is compelled to clear the jungle for agriculture and settlement. People cut down trees for firewood, building materials and furniture. The cattle glaziers take their domestic animals to the jungle to graze. The main cause of its destruction is poor public awareness. The people who are not aptly conscious and responsible cannot understand the importance and necessity of the forest.
Forest destruction invites many disasters. Some of them are drought, landslide, soil erosion, over floods, siltation of rivers and lakes, weather extremes, pollution, ozone layer depletion, green house effect and desertification.
Preservation of forest proves to be crucial. Our forest should be preserved at any cost. In order to control natural disasters, we have to preserve the jungle. Firstly, we have to educate the people about the importance of the forest.  By means of afforestation and reforestation, we can preserve it. By establishing many wildlife reserves and national parks, we can preserve our forest. Selling of firewood and timber must be banned. The government as well as private sectors are expected to make and apply concrete plans to preserve it. It is said that preservation of the forest is our own preservation
